Time dilation
Hello, guys today I am back with one of the most interesting and tricky concepts of physics Time dilation. It is my favorite part of this universe as it carves me into the ocean of thought process
Without much delay let us get into the topic of time dilation
Time dilation: Time dilation is a difference in the elapsed time measured by two clocks, either due to them having a velocity relative to each other or by there being a gravitational potential difference between their locations.
Let us take a case where the test case is in metro and he is traveling in it now if he observes the clock for the time he finds time to be some x now let us observe the case in different perceptive the test case is traveling at the speed of light now if he observes the time in the clock and compare it to preceding case the ratio of time would be x-y:x
i.e the time in the second case is diluted that means the time has slowed down for the person traveling at the speed of light
the same thought had blown einstein's mind and thereby he concluded that the faster you move in space the slower you move in time
Einstein's work was heavily influenced by the two most influential scientists newton and James maxwell (laws of motion, laws of electromagnetism) respectively
According to newton the velocities are never absolute but are always relative if we get into relative motion let us take the example of an age-old example of a train traveling at a velocity of 40kmph w.r.t to someone at rest but however, it travels at the speed of 20kmph w.r.t to train traveling with 20kmph in the same direction
this concept of relative motion is also true for the velocities of sun and the entire galaxy
on the other hand, maxwell found that the speed of an electromagnetic wave is fixed at 29979458m/s however these two ideas are incompatible when placed side to side
this opened a dilemma for einstein
Now einstein had to make a difficult choice in accepting Newton law or electromagnetic law as per above regard finally einstein realized the two notions could co-exist with a small tweak in Newton laws. to get rid of dispensary in the measurements einstein suggested the time for man on the train must slow down to compensate for an increase in speed for the resultant to be constant and he called this time dilation
According to newton time moved forward unfliched whereas Einstein stated that time stretches and contracts with the velocity..........
let us get in-depth in our next blog
